[webmin-l] problem with raid failure notification

Hi all,
I was trying to setup webmin in order to send alert notification mails when
raid devices should fail.

I setup this on a system with 1 md raid 1 (boot partition) and 3 raid 5
partitions

then I removed an hard disk...

What I got was the generation of a message having the right sender
from:raidmonitor-***@domain.dom (scrambled)

the destination should have been "***@frameweb.it". I didn't get
any messages, but looking at
the root's mailbox on the local system having raid problems I found the
messages, addressed to:

to:***@localhost.domain.dom (scrambled)

I am using Webmin 1.410 on an opensuse 10.2 with latest pathes/fixes and
postfix.
From this box I can send succesfully mail to mine address via webmin, using
that from addres

what can I check ?

thanks in advance,

Andrea

No suggestions/checks about this problem ?

The problem is the raid failure alert notification mail is sent to

***@localhost.domain.dom (scrambled)

instead of the configured address

thanks,

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Are you using the System and Server Status module to do the
RAID monitoring, on the Linux RAID module? If the latter, what
email is in the /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf or /etc/mdadm.conf file?

in /etc/mdadm.conf file I have:

So it looks like Webmin is setting the address correctly .. according
to the man page at :

http://man-wiki.net/index.php/5:mdadm.conf

The MAILADDR line should define the address mdadm sends email to.

the mail should be addressed to ***@frameweb.it
the mail are actually sent to ***@localhost.itself.domain (scrambled)
webmin writes down the right address...
So what you mean is that it could be a bug in mdadm ?
Andrea
