Hello List,

I try to install Vitualmin manually via command line

# ./install-module.pl ~/webmin/virtual-server-2.40.wbm.gz

The Installation completes without error, and the
directories are written completely. Unfortunately there´s
no Virtualmin-Icon in the Server category.

The installation over the administration menu works
without a problem and I got the Icon in the Server menu.

Does someone know how I can perform a manual installation
correctly ?

Thanks in advance!
Greetings Jens

Hi Jens,
Post by Jens Bohne
# ./install-module.pl ~/webmin/virtual-server-2.40.wbm.gz
What happens if you do a "rm -f /etc/webmin/modules.info.cache" or
"/etc/init.d/webmin restart" ?

bis dahin/kind regards

I already tried to restart webmin but that doesn´t include
the "Virtualmin Virtual Servers" icon.
Resetting the info cache doesn´t seem to help too.

thanks anyway for your answer !

greetings Jens

Perhaps it was installed, but not granted to your Webmin login? By
default, only the 'root' or 'admin' users get access to new modules.
Check in the Webmin Users module to make sure you are allowed to view
it..

Yes that´s right. In the access rights of the root User the "Virtualmin
Virtual Servers" checkbox wasn´t enabled.
But I need to install virtualmin without the use of the WebGUI.
Is there a possibility to change the acl of the root user on the command
line.
Maybe acl-lib.pl could do this for me but I have no idea how to pass
parameters correctly :-(

In the next Webmin release, I will add support for a --acl USERNAME
option to install-module.pl, for specifying who to grant new modules to.

Currently, they go to the users listed in /etc/webmin/newmodules, or
root and admin if that file doesn't exist.
